Our client is a medical lab specialized in skin care products. Originally occupied an elegant office in a building but the continuous grow made necessary to rent another one, and later another one in the same building but another floor. So the time for the moving finally arrived and they trust in us for relocating and upgrading the original Datacenter.

The new location is a one floor office with a natural light ambient and open spaces.

The requirements were clear, the new office it’s a rented one, so the idea is to maintain fixes costs at a minimum (ie. Cabling costs), so we propose to use specialized Wi-Fi antennas distributed at strategic locations managed by a Wireless Gateway Controller. They need to separate guest data from private data and also they wanted to do web traffic filtering for certain domains and categories, so we propose a firewall for blocking dangerous incoming traffic and to filter outgoing requests to certain domains. We enabled the option to have remote access to the office through a Secure VPN access for mobile devices and notebooks.

They also solicited us IP cameras to have views of the open spaces for security reasons at day and night. And they want to use a soft phone application from the inside and through the VPN access because they want to make local calls when travel abroad at a fixed rate.

Everything was done in a timely fashion with constraint dates between the final work of the architect and the moving of the people to the new location.

VPN & Active Directory

Our client does a daily dispatch between three remote locations using its own fleet of trucks. It needed to control the cargo when it leaves and when arrives at any remote location to control that everything is in order and nothing is missing.

It cannot afford the cost of having dedicated links between the locations, so we proposed use site to site VPN configurations across all links sharing the same Internet connectivity they already have.

The project was divided into two phases, the first one is connectivity and the second one is to set an Active Directory. This helped the client to resolve the problem of running applications between different locations. We use a firewall with a site to site VPN configuration. And in the second phase we set up a Microsoft Active Directory for the integration of the users who use the application and the security of having the same user in all locations when someone travels from one place to the other.
